The Founder

Ace Lock & Key Co. was founded by Rufus L. Hardeman Sr. in 1941. Born June 6th 1910 in Dallas, Texas. He left his home town in 1930 and traveled the country for a time and ended up in Indianapolis about 1939. Mr. Hardeman was an aggressive entrepreneur and he was involved in several exploits namely; Ace Exterminating (1940), Ace Janitorial (1940), Ace Lock & Key Co. (1941), Hardeman's Bargain House (Hardware Store 1941), Hardeman's Bar B Q (1954), Fall Creek Inn Restaurant (1956), Fall Creek Bait and Tackle (1969), Ace Alarm Systems (1969). By the early sixties Mr. Hardeman began to concentrate the majority of his efforts to the Security Profession. He found the Locksmith field to be very technical and challenging. He was assisted in these endeavors by his devoted wife Nona Hardeman along with their son and daughter. Mr. Hardeman passed away in November of 1973. The business was then taken over by Nona Hardeman. Mrs. Hardeman operated the business 10 years with great success until she retired in 1983. Rufus Hardeman Jr. took over the business in 1984 and is in-charge of the operation today. Rufus Hardeman Sr. like many men of his era was a perfectionist. He instilled a level of integrity and professionalism in his companies that still exists today, in-fact we have made it a tradition. He had much respect for the Locksmith and Alarm profession and did what he could to help establish high standards in the security industry. He was a charter member of the Associated Locksmiths Of Greater Indianapolis today known as Associated Locksmiths Of Indiana (A.L.O.I.) It was his desire and now ours to serve the community providing the best security products sales and service that the industry has to offer. Rufus L.
